Scan2Fly is an AI-based feature that allows you to upload your documents required during self check-in for specific countries due to COVID-19, like a Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test certificate or SafeTravel Pass. This feature takes just a few seconds to analyze your document(s) validity and determine your travel eligibility.

Due to the travel regulations implemented by countries’ governments to break the COVID-19 chain, AirAsia has developed Scan2Fly for the benefit and peace of mind for our guests, as well as the authorities of every country that we fly to. AirAsia is one of the first airlines in the world that has this capability for the verification of PCR test certificates and other travel-required documents!

  • How Scan2Fly works

      1. Guest scans or uploads the certificate/document during the self check-in process
      2. The AI integrated with AirAsia’s check-in portal analyzes the uploaded document based on several factors required by the destination country:
        • 72-hour validity (or as prescribed) from the date of the sample provided to the clinic or lab
        • Guest’s name must match the certificate/document
        • Type of test done and result
        • The certificate/document’s credibility (whether it is from an accredited clinic or hospital)
      3. Within a few seconds, the guest will receive a verification if his/her document details are valid, or a rejection message if the details are invalid

      An E-Boarding Pass will be issued. Guest can either proceed straight to the gate, or to the self check-in kiosk to print a bag tag and do a self baggage drop (if the airport provides these facilities).

  • Scan2Fly FAQ

      1. Who is required to perform Scan2Fly and when should it be done?
         Guests who are travelling to certain destinations that have specific requirements as mandated by the local government (e.g. Singapore requires a SafeTravel Pass and PCR test certificate). For timing details and other information, please visit our Travel Requirements page.
      2. What happens if the health declaration document/test certificate is not successfully verified?
        If verification is not successful, you will receive a boarding pass with the watermark stating “Travel document verification required”. You will need to proceed to the airport’s check-in counter on the day of departure.
      3. Do I need to go to the counter to show a health declaration document/test certificate?
        No, you do not need to drop by the counter if your document/test certificate has been successfully updated and verified during self check-in.
      4. Can I still declare my health test result document/test certificate at the counter?
        Yes, you can do it at the check-in counter on the day of departure.
